The family lived in a condominium with 3 bedrooms and 2 toilets, and there were 2 helpers in the household. Her main duty was to take care of the 3- and 8-year-old children—bathing, dressing, preparing meals and school things, and sending/fetching them from school.

Aside from childcare, Gerlyn also helped with household chores such as cleaning, laundry, ironing, and occasionally cooking. She has also shown a great level of trustworthiness and flexibility—as she was entrusted to look after her employer’s newborn niece. The newborn was left in Gerlyn’s care while the baby's mother (the employer’s sister) went to work as a teacher.
